Academic Plan

My academic plan is to be an accountant. I am going to Butler to get my prerequisites out of the way. I am going to Butler because it is cheaper then just taking all of these classes at a four-year university. I am taking my English Composition I and II, College Algebra, Accounting I and II, and many other classes I need. This will take me about two years to complete. Then I will be transferring to Wichita State University or to Kansas State University I have not quite yet decided on where I am going. Kansas State would be a good idea because they have a very good accounting program there. But I am leaning more toward Wichita State University. Wichita State also has one of the best business programs. They are a lot cheaper than Kansas State. There I will be taking the rest of the classes I need to get my Bachelors in Accounting.

Taime management

I am not very good at managing my time. I like to put things off to the last minute. I realized though when I started college that teachers really do not care if you turn something in or not. They do not care if you show up to class or not. So basically what I am trying to say is they are not my “babysitter” like my high school teachers were. I need to put my head on straight and start doing things when they need to be done. It is hard to juggle my school work with my job and I also have animals to take care of. So I do not have much time to do anything. What I plan on doing is setting aside a couple of hours a night to do my homework and studies. I also need to start studying with a positive attitude. If I do not like a class I have a negative attitude toward it so I never want to study for it. I also think that I can study in front of the T.V. but I really just end up watching what is on the T.V. I think just doing this will help me out a lot. I just hope that I can actually stick with doing this. I always start to slack off around spring break time so I am going to try my hardest to not do that this time. Hopefully I can follow these new steps and manage my time better.

coping with change

My life in the past year has changed financially and academically. In high school I would work for something to do more than anything. I did not have any real expenses. Most of what I made I spent on my hobbies or on things I now look at as junk that I will never even use. My academic life was an unorganized as my spending. I would do my homework right before class if I did it at all. Sometimes I felt like I was coasting through life with no end in sight. Since I ad to pay for my classes and books I had to start working a lot more. Some concrete work was perfect. I would get about twelve hours a day three days a week. At first I was not sure if working there would leave me with enough time to get my schoolwork done. My parents did not like the new job at first because I might decide working was more important than school. The labors work confirmed to me however I did not want to work this hard forever. I need a degree. So that I can have other people do the labor while I sit inside out of the elements making the real money. For now though I need to study hard and get my accounting degree. I have now set aside time after school until six for homework. The new arrangement is nice because I have an organized work week and I know I am getting my moneys worth.

community service

Community Service

I think that community service is very important. I have never really had the time to do it because I have always been busy with sports or work. I have volunteered at my church with different activities when I was younger. I went on a mission trip to Minnesota when I was in the fifth grade. We had to raise all the money to go there ourselves. We all went down to the poor area in Minnesota and helped clean up yards and the streets. We also helped rebuild some little houses for the people. It really makes you feel good after doing community service. It made me feel like I really made a difference in someone’s life. I would like to do more someday. I have always been interested in helping out with the Special Olympics. I think that is a really good program. It really makes the kids and adults feel good after competing and just being involved in something. It makes the volunteers feel just as good as the participants. Volunteering is a good thing to do and I think that everyone should do it at least one time in their life just to see what it is like. You will be surprised that after you do it once you will want to keep doing it again.

Major Topic Assignment #4: Butler Resources

I'd first recommend that she find out whether or not she's actually pregnant by going to Butler's Health Services.
